Laymerupakan kata kerja transitif yakni menggunakan pelengkap dalam kalimatnya. Sedangkan liemerupakan kata kerja intransitive yakni tidak menggunakan pelengkap dalam kalimatnya. Perhatikan:

Kalau diperhatikan verb word lay sama dengan bentuk past form dari lie, jadi jangan sampai keliru ya!
To lay means to put, to place or to cause to lie (meletakkan, menempatkan atau menyebabkan sesuatu terbaring/ terletak).
To lie means to recline or to occupy a place (membaringkan atau menduduki suatu tempat).
