Penggunaan the same as dan the same untuk menyatakan exact similarity–Kata benda biasanya dibandingkan untuk suatu kemiripan atau perbedaan yang tepat atau secara umum. Selain itu kata benda juga dibandingkan untuk kemiripan atau perbedaan dalam ‘qualities’ atau ‘degree’, ‘more’ atau ‘less’, dan juga ‘spesific quality’. Atau dengan kata lain kata benda juga dibandingkan untuk mengstimasinya.
Untuk menyatakan kemiripan yang pasti (exact similarity) menggunakan kata ‘the same as’ dan ‘the same’. Perlu diketahui ‘the same as’ dan ‘the same’ memiliki arti yang sama, perbedaanya:
‘the same as’ digunakan diantara dua benda yang dibandingkan
‘the same’ digunakan setelah dua kata benda atau kata benda jamak.

Catatan: jangan menggunakan ‘to’ dan ‘like’ kecuali ‘as’. Jangan menggunakan ‘the same’ diantara dua kata benda yang dibandingkan!

Correct : Your motorcycle is almost the same as mine.
Or
Your motorcycle and mine are almost the same.
Incorrect: Is your pen the same tohers?
Correct : Is your pen the same ashers?
Or
Are your pen and hers the same?
Incorrect: My briefcase is exactly the same that his.
Correct : My briefcase is exactly the same as his.
Or
My briefcase and his are exactly the same.
Incorrect: When two products are basically the same as, advertising can influence the public’s choice.
