Membedakan Active dan Passive Voice – Hey hey…. Author kembali lagi dengan materi yang tak kalah menarik dengan sebelumnya. Karena author lagi baik hati pada readers, bagi readers yang masih kesulitan memahami dan menggunakan kalimat aktif dan pasif atau yang lebih dikenal dengan active and passive voice dalam Bahasa Inggris, maka tepat sekali jika kalian membuka page ini, karena author #kece ini akan membagikan informasi yang lumayan berguna. Sebelum masuk ke materi inti, tentunya kalian masih ingat dong mengenai kata kerja bantu (to be) dan modals (must, can, might, should, would etc), nah nanti juga akan dipakai saat pembentukan kalimat pasif seperti apa. Untuk itu kalian perlu mengingat-ingat kembali.

Perhatikan dua kalimat di bawah ini:

  1. I talk. (saya berbicara)
  2. I am talked. (saya dibicarakan)

Nah pada kalimat pertama (1), kita melihat awalan me-, dan pada kalimat kedua (2) kita melihat awalan di- dalam terjemahan Bahasa Indonesianya. Dalam Bahasa Indonesia, awalah me- dna ber- disebut aktif dan awalan di- dan ter- disebut pasif. Demikian juga dalam Bahasa Inggris, letak perbedaanya hanya dalam kata kerjanya.

Cara membentuk kalimat pasif:

  1. Subject kalimat dalam kalimat aktif menjadi penderita dalam kalimat pasif, begitu pula sebaliknya.
  2. rumus pokok : to be+ participle (V-3)
  3. Tense tetap tidak berubah.

Mari kita lihat perubahan kalimat aktif menjadi pasif dalam berbagai tenses (bentuk waktu) yang sering digunakan baik dalam tulisan maupun dalam percakapan.

  1. Simple Present

Rumus: Noun + is, am, are + participle

Aktif: I need those apples for my treatment.

Pasif: Those apples are needed by me for my treatment.

  1. Present continuous

Rumus: Noun+ is, am, are + being + participle

Aktif: We are cooking many cookies for her party.

Pasif: Many cookies are being cooked by us for her party.

  1. Present perfect

Rumus: Noun+ have, has + been + participle

Aktif: Reina has brought two skirts for her show.

Pasif: Two skirts have been brought by Reina for her show.

  1. Simple Past

Rumus: Noun + was, were + participle

Aktif: I needed those apples for my treatment last day.

Pasif: Those apples were needed by me for my treatment last day.

  1. Past continuous

Rumus: Noun+ was, were + being + participle

Aktif: We were cooking many cookies for her party last night when you came.

Pasif: Many cookies were being cooked by us for her party last night when you came.

  1. Past perfect

Rumus: Noun+ had + been + participle

Aktif: Reina had brought two skirts for her show.

Pasif: Two skirts had been brought by Reina for her show

  1. Simple Future

Rumus: Noun + will, shall + be + participle

Aktif: I will need those apples for my treatment tomorrow.

Pasif: Those apples will be needed by me for my treatment tomorrow.

  1. Future continuous

Rumus: Noun+ will + be+ being + participle

Aktif: We will be cooking many cookies for her party when you come tomorrow.

Pasif: Many cookies will be being cooked by us for her party when you come tomorrow.

  1. Future perfect

Rumus: Noun+ will + have + participle

Aktif: Reina will have brought two skirts for her show at this time tomorrow.

Pasif: Two skirts will have been brought by Reina for her show at this time tomorrow.

Noted: jika subjek kalimat berupa: people, someone, everybody, everyone dalam kalimat aktif, maka by dan subjek kalimat tidak perlu ditulis. Misalnya:

Aktif: Many people love her.

Pasif: She is loved.
